Welcome to QRP "One"

EmComm reference for QRP operators

QRP1

QRP Advantages

Golden rule

Only use enough power to complete the communication

Reduces Interference

Prevents your signal from bleeding over into adjacent frequencies and eliminates "over-driving" (which creates distorted audio).

Saves Battery

Crucial for handheld units, portable field kits, and emergency operations where every milliamp matters.

Prevents Heat damage

Continuous use of maximum power (e.g., 50 to 100 watts) generates extreme heat, which can degrade radio components over time.

About QRP "One"

When traditional communication methods become unreliable or fail, it is essential to have alternative means of staying connected. To that end this site contains my notes and reference info for off grid licensed radio comms. It is a diverse reference source from knots to radios.

Brief History
In Jan 2026 I got my Technician ticket. For me 2 Meters, 70 centimeters and a tiny slice of 10 Meters was OK but left me wanting HF access. In May 2026 I passed my General and started learing QRP, JS8Call and Winlink.
